Eastlink Community Hub is a not-for-profit charitable trust located at Old Farm Road, Hamilton East. The Eastlink Community Hub is made of the following member clubs; Waikato Tennis Trust, Lugton Park Squash Club, Eastlink Cricket Club, Waikato Badminton Association, Hamilton Wado-Kai Karate Club, and Hamilton In-Line Hockey Club.
Eastlink Community Hub operates as an umbrella organisation to the member clubs to:
- Work with our Member Clubs to grow community participation in sport and recreation activities at the hub.
- Support Member Clubs to collaborate toward increased relevance, quality, connectivity and sustainability of sport and recreation spaces.
- Assist Member Clubs with the development of new or manage the redevelopment of existing spaces.
- Provide a framework to assist Member Clubs to grow their participation levels and provide quality experiences to their members
- Support collaborative approaches between Member Clubs and with partners who support the Eastlink Community Hub vision
- Seek funding, manage services and carryout business and social enterprise activity in keeping with objectives 1-4.
Requirements:
Skills/Competencies being sought
The skills and competencies we are seeking are:
• Diverse values
• Business Acumen
• Strategic Planning
• Accounting/finance background and/or accounting qualification(s)
• Previous governance experience would be ideal but not essential
• Well connected with Waikato businesses
• Experience with fundraising/sponsorship
We are very keen to establish strong connections with the Asian, Pacific, and Maori communities. As such, applications for the Independent Board role are particularly welcomed from those with strong connections with tangata whenua.
This role would suit someone who has a strong accounting/finance background who is looking for their first governance role.
A Police background check is required for this role. Time commitment:
Monthly meetings are usually held on the last Monday of the month from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. As the Finance person for the board, some work outside of the monthly board meetings will be required.
